Well done Canada

OSTERSUND – It must be said that Canada’s Kaitlyn Lawes struggled this week at the World Juniors.

The Canadians have looked, generally, to be well out of their comfort zone throughout the affair.

And the opening ends of today’s bronze-medal match looked to put the nail in the coffin, particularly when 2006 world junior champ Liudmila Privivkova of Russia stole three in the third to go up 5-nil.

Well, guess what. The ladies from Winnipeg gathered themselves and, coupled with some late shaky play from the Russians, roared back to win the game 9-8 and capture the bronze.

More details and some great quotes from Ms. Lawes are at the WCF website, and The Curling News tips our cap to the squad for a incredibly brave closing performance.
